Ministry of Revenues to join efforts with Foreign Affairs
Posts of tax and customs attachés will be introduced at least at Ukraine’s foreign diplomatic missions in the countries that Ukraine has developed trade and economic ties and significant turnover with, stated the Ministry’s press service.
In particular, the agency point out nations like Russia, USA, China, United Kingdom, Poland, Belgium (EU mission) and others.
At the Ministry of Revenues’ initiative, tax and customs attachés will most likely be Ministry employees.
Objectives and functions of customs and tax attachés, as well as their priorities will be determined by the Ministry of Revenue and Duties jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. However, supervision of daily activities of customs and taxation attachés will be carried out by heads of foreign diplomatic missions and the head of economic department.
At present, customs and tax attaché as ex-officio advisor works only at the Mission of Ukraine to European Communities. In the recent past, Customs Service had its representatives at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Poland. Later, however, these positions were eliminated.
