The Ukrainian side is disappointed with adoption of the “Memorandum on Protection of Transcarpathian Hungarians” at the first session of a new government of Hungary and plans to raise this question during the next meeting of Foreign Ministers of Ukraine and Hungary, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported in its response to UNN inquiry.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine perceived with disappointment the information regarding the adoption of “Memorandum on Protection of Transcarpathian Hungarians” at the first session of a new government of Hungary. The Ukrainian side will raise the question of adopting the mentioned document during the next bilateral meetings of foreign ministers of two states”, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.

As noted by the ministry, the position of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine will also be informed to the Ambassador of Hungary in Ukraine during the next meeting.

In the meantime, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that “the further strengthening of purposeful destructive rhetorics from Hungary regarding the sphere of meeting educational needs of Hungarian minorities in Ukraine, continuation of manipulations and spreading of disinformation on this question as well as transfer of this bilateral cooperation within Ukraine-NATO Commission will be considered as counterproductive and not contributory to strengthening good neighborly relations between Ukraine and Hungary”.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine emphasized that Ukraine is ready for the constructive dialog with Hungary on all questions, including those, which related to the sphere of ensuring the rights and needs of Hungarian minorities in Ukraine.

In addition, the ministry added that Ukraine invariably considers Hungary as its important partner and establishes further development of bilateral relationships on the principles of friendship, equality and good neighborhood.

As UNN informed, on Friday, Prime Minister of Hungary Victor Orban conducted inauguration of the session of new government of Hungary, adopting the memorandum on protection of Transcarpathian Hungarians at the first meeting.
