The draft state budget for 2019 will provide for 56 billion hryvnias for the road construction, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groisman said during the government meeting, EP reports.
At the same time, the Prime Minister added that UAH 17 billion will be allocated to local roads.
Among other things, UAH 2.5 billion will be provided for the road safety.
"75% of the total excise that comes from the fuel will be sent to roads. In addition, in this figure there will be other 2.5 billion hryvnias next year, which we will send to road safety", Groisman said.
According to him, the funding will go to fencing, safety islands, pedestrian crossings and so on, and the works will begin in spring 2019.
As reported, according to Ukravtodor estimates, it is necessary to allocate 2 trillion hryvnias for major repairs of all roads that connect settlements throughout Ukraine.
It should be reminded that as per the state budget for 2018, 44 billion hryvnia will be allocated for road repairs (out of which 32.6 billion hryvnia - the State Road Fund).
Together with the funds from international financial organizations, the amount, allocated for repairing roads is UAH 47 billion in 2018.
