President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko expressed doubts regarding the possibility of deciding to create a land market in the near future, finance.ua reported.
"I understand that, unfortunately, the chances for an adjusted state decision to create, for example, a civilized land market ... now it will be difficult to hold", he said from the parliamentary rostrum on Thursday, delivering an annual message.
At the same time, he recalled that the European Court of Human Rights recognized a moratorium on free market circulation of land violating the rights of Ukrainians.
Reportedly, on December 7, 2017, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the bill No. 7350, which extends the moratorium on the sale of agricultural land until January 1, 2019. On December 30, 2017, the President of Ukraine signed it.
In February 2017, a group of 55 people's deputies, initiated by People's Deputy A. Mushak, appealed to the Constitutional Court on lifting of the moratorium on agricultural land sale.
In mid-February 2018, CC decided to refuse to initiate a constitutional proceeding on the case of abolition of the moratorium on agricultural land sale.
In late May 2018, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) decided that the continued extension of the moratorium on agricultural land sale in Ukraine violates human rights.
ECHR urged Ukraine to regulate the agricultural land market more quickly, since it was for this legislative settlement that a moratorium was introduced.
