A new exam format
The first ever computer-based testing of knowledge of notaries will be held on October 6, 2014. The exam venue: 73 Artema St., Kyiv. The decision on the notary exam was passed at the founding meeting of the High Qualification Commission at the Ukraine’s Ministry of Justice that was presided over by Chair of the Ministry of Justice Pavlo Petrenko, the MJU’s press-office reports.
The notary exam will be held in a new format. Computer-based tests will replace an interview conducted by the members of the commission before. The computer software, depending on a number of proper responses, will decide whether an applicant has successfully passed the exam.
«The procedure we’ve elaborated completely excludes subjective evaluation and corruption in deciding whether the exam has been passed successfully or not. Exams should be fair and transparent, this is my unshakeable position. They can be fully automated», - said Chair of the Ministry of Justice.
At that, in May the Ukraine’s Ministry of Justice introduced an electronic exam system to evaluate notary knowledge and issue notary certificates. This procedure will fully eliminate the influence of the subjective factor on the exam participants - both who undergo and set exams; in so doing, any occurrence of corruption inherent in the system will be eliminated. The test will be done electronically in two stages, based on the principle of external independent testing. Frequency of testing has increased from one exam to four exams a year.
