A.Yatseniuk requests the Verkhovna Rada to consider the draft law immediately
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine proposes to renounce the non-aligned status of Ukraine and accede to the NATO, Prime-Minister of Ukraine Arseny Yatseniuk said today at the CMU’s meeting, RBK-Ukraine (РБК-Україна) reports.
“The government of Ukraine submits for consideration of the parliament the law on repealing the non-aligned status of Ukraine and reinstating its course towards the NATO. Additionally, according to the law, the core goal and top priority task of the Ukraine’s foreign policy is the EU membership. This draft law prohibits Ukraine to decide on acceding to any other economic, political or military alliance or association, if they contravene the core goal of Ukraine. This goal implies the membership in the European Union. If this law is approved, it will ban the membership of Ukraine in both the Customs Union and Eurasian Economic Union, as well as in some other types of the so called unions, the true nature of which is nothing else but the Soviet Union’s”, - said A.Yatseniuk.
He underscored that this draft law should be considered by the parliament immediately.
The point is that on August 28, 2014, Ukraine blamed Russia of the direct cross-border incursion by its troops into the territory of Ukraine and asked the international community, including the NATO, for help.
