MRD executed an operation «State Border 2013»

The Ministry of Revenues and Duties attracted additional 68.9 million UAH to the budget from operation «State Border 2013», says te Ministry’s press-servcie.

The operation involved special spot-checks of vehicles and cargo containers at crossing the Ukrainian border. The operation was carried out during two months, starting 14 February 2013.

The inspection was looking at correct customs clearance of goods at checkpoints across the state border in the areas of Lviv, Iahodyn, Chop and Southern Customs. Customs officers then submit information on the results of the inspection of vehicles and containers, detected violations of customs rules, facts of possible understatement of the customs value of goods, as well as violations of official duties to the relevant analytical centre.

The analysts, using IT-systems, process and summarize this information, develop methods of comprehensive counteraction to offenses and corruption at the customs at import and export of goods. Also, the “black list” is prepared of enterprises and customs brokers that are prone to evasion of customs payments through corrupt relationships with customs officials.

The Ministry’s officials report increased customs revenues thanks to the measures taken to minimize the risk of corruption. For example, in Odessa and Illichivsk seaports due to detected discrepancies between weight of goods the information specified in accompanying documents, on average per day the total amount of customs payments increased by 1 million UAH.
