In April, according to the figures made available by Ukravtoprom, the car fleet in Ukraine increased by 3057 new units. Thus, sales trend is still downward compared to the previous year. Demand for passenger cars decreased by 61%, in comparison to April 2014.

At the same time, new car sales grew by 35 percent as compared to the previous month.

The top brand in April was Renault. Renault was ranked first with sales of 270 units. Thus, the French brand improved its sales by 56 percent in the Ukrainian market compared to the previous month. However, its sales decreased by almost 13 percent compared to April last year.

Toyota is the second best-selling brand, with 246 vehicles sold. Toyota’s dealers managed to increase sales of Japanese car brand by 41% in March, but they failed to come close to the figures for April last year, the gap was 73 percentage points.

Ukrainian KIA and Ford were ranked third, with 195 vehicles sold by each brand.

Therefore, KIA managed to overpass the results for March by 65%, while Ford - almost 2.9 times. But, despite the sales growth compared to the previous month, KIA failed to reach the projected figures lacking 40% as compared to April 2014, and Ford - 14 percent.

Skoda was ranked fourth in car sales - 175 units (+ 25% by March 2015, and -44% until April 2014.).

Volkswagen rounded out the top 5 in April sales of new cars, with 169 units (+ 12% by March 2015. and -43% by April 2014).

In total, during the period from January to April this year there were sold 10,837 passenger cars in the primary market of Ukraine, showing a drop of 76% compared to a similar period a year ago.
