Oschadbank has filed lawsuit with the Economic Court in Kyiv on illegal renaming of the Ukrainian “subsidiary” of Sberbank of Russia to Sberbank and on violation of rights of intellectual property. It is said in the lawsuit of Oschadbank, the bank press-service reports.
Oschadbank considers that Sberbank of Russia illegally uses the trademark “Sberbank”, the only legal owner of which on the territory of Ukraine is Oschadbank (certificate №82116 dd. 10.09.2007).
In addition, Oschadbank is the only legal owner of exclusive property rights to such trademarks: «Ощадбанк» (certificate № 34083 dd. 15.08.2003), «Oschadbank» (certificate № 204088 dd. 25.09.2015) and others.
“Renaming of “Sberbank of Russia” to just “Sberbank” is illegal. We consider that such efforts of Sberbank of Russia to conceal the country of origin of their authorized capital are unacceptable. Though I understand the motives, as Russia is officially recognized as the aggressor country by the Verkhova Rada of Ukraine. This all in certain way influences clients and can confuse them”, - the Chairman of Oschadbank Andrei Pyshnyi commented on the lawsuit.
The subsidiary bank of Sberbank of Russia has been renamed to Sberbank (Kyiv). The relevant operation was conducted on November 26, 2015.
