Bank rate is set at 7%
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has decided to decrease the discount rate by 0.5 percentage points - from 7.5% to 7% per annum from 10 June 2013, as laid down by the Bank’s Resolution № 209 of 6 June 2013, reports NBU’s press service.
"I am confident that the decision to reduce the discount rate will be positively seen by the market and will stimulate an increase in lending. Together with other events by the National Bank and the government, this will increase economic activity in the state and contribute to the stability of the banking system," Head of the National Bank of Ukraine Ihor Sorkin said.
According to the NBU, this move aims to consolidate positive trends in monetary sphere and give an impetus to the intensification of economic development processes.
