The US financial aid, amounting to USD 220 mln, will be aimed at improvement of operation of the State Customs Service of Ukraine, Economic Truth reports.
This was said by the Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Alexander Sayenko during his interview to Channel 5.
“The amount of USD 220 mln was really confirmed at the meeting with Vice-President Joseph Biden. We are speaking about three key directions, at which this amount is aimed. One of them is customs reform”, he said.
“First of all, the funds from the USA will be allocated for technical facilities, which will allow controlling and monitoring those contraband flows, which are, unfortunately, crossing our customs”, Sayenko noted.
The Minister emphasized that, first of all, customs employees will be provided with access to databases, which will allow having “correct monitoring of customs value and proper imposition of given goods”.
Then it goes to technical facilities of customs control.
“When the customs officer comes to his vehicle, looks and writes down on paper, it is very difficult to monitor that. Technical facilities will allow automatic monitoring of what is moving. The new automated system will automatically determine the value of these goods”, - Sayenko added.
