President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko is against the scholarship cancellation, he said while delivering speech at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Tuesday, September 6.
“I will not pass the budget for the next year, which stipulates scholarship cancellation, cancellation of free master’s degree program and other experiments”, Poroshenko noted.
The people’s deputies responded with thunderous ovation to this President’s statement.
It should be reminded that the Ministry of Finance proposes the Ministry of Education to cancel scholarship for students, which is 830 UAH on the average, from the next year. From January 1, 2017, the students will receive scholarships as per the new pay administration system. It is suggested dividing scholarships into social and academic.
Later Deputy Minister of Education and Science Volodymyr Kovtunets stated that the payment of scholarships will not be fully cancelled for students, the payments will be cut “in parts”.
