In the near future, EU Commissioner for Energy Union Maros Sevcovic should visit Moscow for negotiations regarding “winter package” of gas supplies to Ukraine, EU official told The European Truth on the condition of anonymity.
“In the near future, EU Commissioner Sevcovic will visit Moscow. Not just for discussing terms of winter package, but also for negotiations regarding the fact that Ukraine remains the important transit partner after 2018 as well”, he told.
The interviewer confirmed that it refers to the visit, which will take place as part of negotiations on gas supplies to Ukraine and its uninterrupted transit. “These negotiations will be the part of trilateral consultations (between Ukraine, EU and RF)”, he added.
The interlocutor noted that the meetings with government and Gazprom should be held. In addition, he suggested not expecting for significant progress after this visit.
“I am not expecting that there will be some decision right now. These are just the first negotiations. However, in the end, we are hopeful of success in the negotiations on winter package”, - EU representative noted.
It should be reminded that the weighted average price of imported gas, at which, in the third quarter of 2016, Naftogaz of Ukraine NJSC purchased it, was 187 dollars for 1 thousand cubic meters versus 191 dollars in the first quarter.
The gas has not been imported from Russia to Ukraine since November 26, 2015.
