In the Global Militarization Index, Ukraine ranks 15th, while Russia ranks fifth.
Ukraine has gone up in the Global Militarization Index from 23rd to 15th place.
It was mentioned in the document that the high militarization rate is observed in Eastern Europe in 2016.
“Due to the annexation of the Crimea by Russia and continuous conflict in the Eastern Ukraine, the security situation changed in Europe”, according to the report.
Russia ranks fifth. The first ten of the ranking includes other four European countries (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Greece and Cyprus).
Israel remains the most militarized country of the world from 152 countries, represented in the ranking. It is explained by the high share of military men in the population of this country.
The USA, ranking 31st in the rating, spends on military needs most in the world.
The reason is that US military expenditures versus GDP and population number are not the largest in the world, Research Author Max Muchler explained.
Previously Ukraine ranked 25th out of 126 in the Global Military Personal Index Score.
In September, Ukraine soared in Global Heavy Weapon Index Score.
