Ukrainian and EU state bodies share their experience
8-9 July 2013 the State Financial Inspection of Ukraine hosted a working session of EU experts and heads of the Inspection concerning preparation of Twinning project to improve public financial control, announced the Inspection’s press service.
The EU was represented by Ioanis Filopulos (Greece) and Michel Peque (France).
The purpose of the meeting was to assess the potential and priority ideas of the planned project that aims to implement the future Association Agreement EU - Ukraine: improvement of the public internal financial control and implementation of appropriate mechanisms to fight fraud.
During the meeting the EU representatives studied the Inspection’s basic functions and structure, rights and responsibilities, approaches to planning and conducting audits, current stage of implementation of the European model of public internal financial control and main directions of the Inspection’s international cooperation.
The experts, in turn, offered a number of recommendations for improvement of Twinning Fiche, as well as for further selection of the Twinning implementation partner.
The parties agreed that EU experts will send the revised Twinning Fiche Project to the Inspection to review and submit proposals in later this July. The next arrival of experts to have final discussion of Twinning Fiche project is scheduled for September this year.
