Vacation abroad afforded by 2-3% of Ukrainians
On average, during a 9 days holiday abroad a Ukrainian spends 12 thousand UAH, LIHA Businessinform writes.
Travel agencies sell 7-10 day tours at about 8 thousand UAH.
However, this amount is not the limit: holiday preparations will cost another 2 thousand UAH, with expenses abroad adding at least 50% of the tour price. Therefore, the actual price of a foreign holiday is around 12 thousand UAH per person.
Only 2-3% (1.3-1.5 million people) of the Ukrainian population can afford to go abroad on vacation. “It should be mentioned that the number of tourists, at least, those travelling through agencies, does not grow, - says Olena Bukhno, director of SAM travel company, - regular travelers are the same people.”
And virtually everyone tries to minimize costs, says Natalia Herasymenko, CEO Tass Travel travel agency: “In most cases our managers hear the same phrase, “Can I get it at a lower price and better quality?”
While in the past absolute leaders in Ukraine’s touristic market were Egypt and Turkey, today things are changing. This is due to increased number of visa free countries, less strict terms for obtaining a visa, new charter flights to long-haul destinations.
