The total amount on projects is about $ 1.5 billion
The corresponding agreement was reached during a meeting of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Igor Prasolov with the World Bank Director in Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova, Europe and Central Asia Mr. Chimyao Fan, the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade informs.
In the 2013 - 2014 period Ukraine expects the support of the World Bank in preparation of new investment projects to improve the health and efficiency of social services, modernization of municipal, transportation and energy infrastructure.
This year the Ukrainian side has initiated preparation of "Second Urban Infrastructure Project", Ministry of Health also preparing documents to initiate "Project to reform the regional health care system of Ukraine". In addition, the Ministry of Regional Development is finalizing documents for initiating the project "Increasing energy efficiency in the heating sector area of Ukraine". Also under preparation are projects to initiate "Second projects to transmit electro-energy" and "Second project to improve the social welfare system"
Chimyao Fan expressed the hope that the Ukrainian side activates initiation and preparation of these projects.
"The total of these five projects is approximately $ 1.5 billion and we hope that in this financial year, the Board of Directors of the World Bank will adopt decisions on granting loans to Ukraine for implementation of these three projects, namely - "Energy efficiency in heating sector area of Ukraine", "Second Urban Infrastructure Project" and "Second project to improve the social assistance system", - said Chimyao Fan.
He also informed about possibility that Ukraine get structural adjustment loans to finance the state budget totaling of $ 800 million prerequisite for such loans are renewed cooperation with the IMF.
According to Igor Prasolov, the Government intends to continue dialogue with IMF to launch a new program of "stand-by" and expects the support of the World Bank in preparation of new system projects to finance state budget and structural reforms.
