The Kyiv Solomensky District Court declined to arrest and placed under home arrest the general director of the public enterprise “Eastern Mining and Concentrating Plant” (Zheltye Vody, Dnipropetrovsk region) Alexander Sorokin, suspected of appropriation of 17 million dollars during the uranium purchase for the public enterprise, the judge Victoria Kytsiuk told, Channel 112 reports.
She said that the charge, pressed against Sorokin, is well founded, but she did not see the social threat in his home arrest.
Thus, the court declined to satisfy the petition of the Specialized Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office on the suspect’s arrest and applied the night home arrest as the measure of restraint.
In the meantime, the court declined to release the suspect on bail to Yuri Bereza, Vitali Stashuk and Gennady Krivoshey, the deputies of Verkhovna Rada from People’s Front.
It should be reminded that the anticorruption bodies served charges to the general director of the public enterprise “Eastern Mining and Concentrating Plant” (Zheltye Vody, Dnipropetrovsk region).
Previously, the Kyiv Solomensky District Court declined to arrest the former chairperson of the supervisory board of Odessa Portside Plant Sergei Perelom as part of the case against the former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Nikolai Martynenko (“People’s Front”) and released him on bail to the parliamentary deputies from PF.
