Breweries in the red
Net profits of Carlsberg Group A/S, one of the leading manufacturers of beer, fell in the first half of the year by 34.8% against same period last year and totaled 2.14 billion Danish crowns ($382 million), Prime agency reports.
Earnings per share in the reporting period amounted to 14 Danish crowns ($2.5) versus 21.5 Danish crowns ($3.84) for the first six months of 2012. Revenue for the same period grew by 2.5% - to 32.92 billion Danish crowns ($5.88 billion).
Company's net profit in Q2 fell 38.1% to 2.07 billion Danish crowns ($370 million). Converted to one common share, the profit amounted to DKK 13.6 ($2.43) compared to 22 crowns in April-June 2012. Revenue increased by 1.6% to 19.64 billion Danish crowns ($3.5 billion).
Net income of brewing group Netherlands-based Heineken in the first half of 2013 decreased compared to the same period last year by 16.6% to €639 million in terms of profit per ordinary share amounted to €1.11 to €1.33 a year ago. Producer’s revenues in the reporting period grew 6.56% to €9.35 billion.
