EU Ambassador to Ukraine Hugues Mingharelli insists that the supporters of ‘Buy Ukrainian, Pay Ukrainians’ bill use false arguments, he said during presentation of the government report for European integration for 2017, the ET’s correspondent reports.
The ambassador encouraged to critically assess those arguments, which are spoken in public space.
“They say that ‘Buy Ukrainian’ will be to the benefit of Ukrainians, say, it will create jobs. It is not true. Not because we want to win tenders by ourselves, but because due to such law, you will lose competition among tender participants”, the ambassador said.
The diplomat noted that it refers to procurement, made through budget funds.
“Without competition, you will have to pay more and get the worse quality. Thus, not EU will lose from this law, but Ukraine will lose from it”, he explained.
“The populists, who speak that the draft law ‘Buy Ukrainian’ is good for Ukraine – they just lie to you”, EU Ambassador said.
