During 2018, Ukrzaliznytsia plans to invest UAH 18.4 bln in renewal and modernization of the rolling stock, according to the company’s presentation, which is under control of ET.

Thus, this year, it is planned to buy 60 and modernize 226 passenger cars.

As for the freight cars, it is planned to buy 3,350 units for the year, produce 3,600 and modernize over 10 thousand cars.

In addition, currently, UZ plans to modernize and modify 50 freight and 29 passenger electric locomotives, 18 freight, 4 passenger and 62 shunting diesel locomotives.

It is also planned to buy 30 General Electric’s locomotives.

“We expect the first lot by end of the year. Moreover, in autumn, they should get onto the track to help us during the peak periods of transportation”, UZ director Evgeny Kravtsov told in comments to ET.

Groisman Chairs Non-Existent Commission for Business Security

Prime Minister Volodymyr Groisman chairs the interdepartmental commission on the business security.

The respective decision was approved at the government session on Wednesday, Ukrainian News reports.

“The commission, which I will personally head, will be created. Its composition will include the ministers where required. However, the business associations of the country will dominate in this commission”, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groisman said.

According to Minister of Justice Pavlo Petrenko, the said commission will include the representatives of business associations; however it will not include the representatives of law enforcement authorities.

The Commission will consider concrete complaints of the business representatives, in which the infringement of interests of Ukrainian citizens and Ukrainian enterprises on the part of law enforcement was fixed.

“The second is the generalization of this information so that we give the systemic response on the part of the government. Maybe in the form of amendments to the legislation, maybe in the form of personnel decisions on concrete law enforcement bodies”, Petrenko added.

According to Groisman, the composition of said commission includes the business ombudsman, the Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the European Business Association, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Employers of Ukraine and trade unions.
