The State Fiscal Service (SFS) suggested implementing the electronic control system over tobacco product manufacturing, the press office of the service informed.
“The state fiscal service activated the negotiation process with tobacco market players regarding the implementation of electronic control system over cigarette production and turnover. It is the effective method of preventing appearance of false products”, according to the message.
The business representatives noted that each large producer has its control system at the enterprise, which can track and trace the route of cigarette pack from the producer to end user through the unique identifier.
According to them, the electronic excise stamp should work in the same way.
“Today, there are several options of what the electronic excise stamp should be, how this system will operate. According to me, it is necessary to choose one option, to complete it, taking into account the interests of the state and business and submit to the legislators for consideration”, Head of SFS Myroslav Prodan said.
Reportedly, the total cigarette market volume in Ukraine for 2017 decreased by 8.2% - to 67.1 bln pieces mainly through the influence of price growth and increase of illegal trade.
It should be reminded that from January 1, 2018, in Ukraine, the excise duty for tobacco products increased by 30%.
In addition, with each future year, the excise duty will increase by 20%, until it reaches the European level of €90 for a thousand cigarettes.
In April, a new tobacco excise duty was suggested imposing in Ukraine.
