The new tranche may be expected in autumn, if Ukraine can come to agreement with the International Monetary Fund, Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Oleg Churii said on the air of Radio HB.
“If IMF mission is positive, if Ukraine will be able to make agreement with IMF, then we will be able to obtain the positive board decision in autumn and I think that in autumn Ukraine will be able to obtain the tranche”, he said.
According to him, setting the date of the board with high share of probability means that the decision for Ukraine will be positive. Churii noted that IMF mission in Kyiv will be technical.
He also added that the arrival of IMF mission is the signal that the process is underway. According to Churii, the questions under obligations, which were already fulfilled, will be discussed.
As is known, the International Monetary Fund imposed four requirements to Ukraine for obtaining the next tranche. Thus, Kyiv should create the anticorruption court and regulate the question with gas prices. The pension reform and the privatization law were already approved by the requirements.
This March, IMF Resident Representative Goesta Ljungman said during interview with HB that Ukraine can expect for the fourth revision of the lending program by May 2018, if the Ukrainian authorities will be able to demonstrate progress in implementing necessary reforms within the next month or two.
However, later, the National Bank envisaged the allocation of the next IMF loan tranche (about $1.9 bln) only in the second half year of 2018.
Meanwhile, Fitch Ratings expects for obtaining the next tranche by Ukraine in Q3, 2018.
Previously, Former Minister of Finance of Ukraine Alexander Danyliuk stated during interview with IMF that Ukraine plans to conclude a new Extended Financing Facility program after termination of the current program.
NBU expects that the volume of the next program of cooperation with IMF can amount to $5.5 bln. Meanwhile, the regulator expects for receiving about $2 bln from IMF in 2018 under the current program.
