Border crossing rules

A person crossing the EU’s border with over €10 thousand in cash should fill in a customs declaration form stating fully the amount in hold that exceeds €10 thousand, and provide a certificate issued by the bank or other financial institution to serve as an evidence of the withdrawal of the money from the accounts opened. The period of validity of such documents are 30 calendar days starting from the day of issue, the Main Department of the Ministry of Revenue &Duties in Kirovograd oblast reports. 

It is worth noting that a uniform customs declaration that is valid across the whole territory of the European Union should be filled in by individuals moving cash money exceeding €10 thousand over the border.

When crossing the EU’s border, a person having over 10 thousand euros (or equalling to the said value in other currency) is required to state the amount in excess in the country of arrival/departure.

An individual should file the customs declaration twice – when entering and leaving the territory of the European Union with over €10 thousand. The cash money, securities, traveler’s cheques, promissory notes should be indicated in the declaration. The regulation covers all border crossings, including even transit through the EU countries.  

The information to be stated in the declaration is as follows: passport data, personal details of holder/holders of the monetary instruments (an individual or legal entity), the amount of money, its origin (for example, inheritance, personal savings, sale of real estate, etc.) and intended use (investing, purchases, etc.). Besides, it is necessary to supply details of the trip (type of transport, number of flight /train/ship).

If the data stated in the declaration is invalid or not full, a person who has filed the said declaration will undergo punishment, the monetary instruments can be seized or confiscated.
