The Verkhovna Rada endorsed the draft law №2356а, which will give the opportunity for demobilized military servicemen to sign short-term enlistment contracts. The relevant draft law on Military Duty and Military Service (specifying service term under contract) in the first reading was endorsed by 253 parliamentarians while 226 are minimum required, RBC-Ukraine (РБК-Украина) reports.
In particular, the law stipulates the introduction of contract service for the period of 6 months.
The document stipulates that the short-term contracts can be concluded with three categories of military servicemen, who served more than 11 months: those, who should be demobilized in the near future, conscript soldiers and those who have already been demobilized during special period. It is also important to obtain one-time financial remuneration for signing the contract – UAH 9,744 for rank and file to UAH 12,180 – officers (endorsed by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers on Introducing Amendments to Paragraph 6 of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dd. November 7, 2007). Further decent monthly salary and social benefits are also envisaged.
