Regions want to control the Internet
Deputy Volodymyr Oliinyk (Party of Regions) registered a bill which proposes to oblige providers to close access to websites promoting ethnic enmity, violence, violation of civil rights and liberties, reports LIHA BiznesInform.
If the law is approved, unwanted websites will be closed by court decision within a day, personal information will be issued to law enforcement bodies on first demand. In addition, internet providers will be required to make such web-resources unavailable within 24 hours following corresponding court decision at the request of the Security Service or Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Furthermore, V. Oliinyk plans to oblige providers on request law enforcers to issue personal data.
The opposition scarified the bill, claiming its creation is due to authorities' desire to close down unwanted websites. The Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information says that the document will not get support.
