Ukraine's customs rules
The Ministry of revenue and duties reminded existing rules of the Customs Code regarding what items can be imported into the territory of Ukraine by tourists, says the press service of the Ministry of Revenue in Sevastopol.
Existing norms of the Customs Code allow to import into the territory of Ukraine foods for personal consumption within the total €200 equivalent per person, in such amounts:
- In the original packaging for retail - in an amount not more than one package or of the total weight not exceeding 2 kg of each item per person;
- Without packaging - in the amount not exceeding 2 kg of each item per person;
- Without packaging - indivisible product, ready for immediate use, in an amount not more than one item per person;
These standards are calculated per individual, regardless of age. Upon entry, persons importing foods into the customs territory of Ukraine are to declare them (orally or in writing on the preference of products owner or at the request of a customs officer).
As for alcohol and cigarettes, only citizens over 18 years of age may carry such goods. This means that in calculating the amount of goods allowed for import, for example, by the family only adult passengers are taken into account.
It is allowed to import into the customs territory of Ukraine in hand-carried or accompanied luggage without paying customs duties and written declaration (as per person):
- 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 250 grams of tobacco, or these items in a set of total weight not exceeding 250 grams;
- 5 lof beer, 2 l of wine, 1 l of strong (with alcohol content over 22%), alcoholic beverages.
