Child support to be indexed in Ukraine
The Supreme Court of Ukraine issued a decree to index alimony in Ukraine, i.e. they will increase in proportion to inflation, as reported by Vesti.
«Previously there was no common practice on this account: some judges were on the wives’ side, others - on the husbands’. Now the amount of fixed child support should be indexed - its size is determined in UAH rather than as a percentage of the husband’s income. Under current law, the amount of alimony today cannot be less than 30% of the subsistence minimum for children of the corresponding age - from 291.60 to 363.00 UAH per month. From 1 December 2013 the amount will grow», senior partner of law firm «Kravets & Partners» Rostyslav Kravets explained.
Lawyers believe that the new Supreme Court decision could trigger an increase in the number of lawsuits of divorced couples against each other.
