The Ukrainians have deserved to freely travel within Schengen Area, Avramopoulos thinks, Correspondent.net reports.
European Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship Dimitris Avramopoulos stated that soon Ukrainians will be able to travel to EU without visas and reminded that the visa cancellation does not envisage the right to employment in EU countries, as it is said in the Avramopoulos’ statement as per results of his visit to Ukraine, EU Delegation to Ukraine reports.
“Currently our proposal regarding the visa-free trips for Ukraine is in hands of EU Council and European Parliament, and I sincerely hope that they will accept it as soon as possible”, Avramopoulos said.
According to him, the visa-free regime refers to the strengthening of business, social and cultural links between EU and Ukraine.
The European Commissioner also noted that it refers to the strengthening of interpersonal contacts between citizens of EU countries and Ukraine.
“Of course, the visa exemption does not envisage the right to employment in EU, but the proper observance of visa-free rule will be important”, Avramopoulos emphasized.
Considering this, the European Commissioner stated: “However, I know that the Ukrainian government has already started informing its citizens about it. Please let me say that I am expecting for the moment, when Ukrainian citizens will start travelling on our Schengen Area without visas. This will be the moment, which Ukraine and its people deserve.”
It should be noted that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine considers that there are no impediments for liberalization of the EU visa-free regime with Ukraine and the European side finalizes the bureaucratic procedures of its implementation.
