Stepan Chernovetskyi is suspected of laundering dozens of million dollars, Correspondent.net reports.
The Barcelona Court imposed the judicial restraint on Kyiv Ex-Mayor’s son Stepan Chernovetskyi’s and other six detainees, Diari de Girona reports.
According to the edition, seven detainees are taken into custody without bail. They are suspected of laundering dozens of millions dollars. One more person, the citizen of Spain, connected to the investigation of this case, was seized a foreign passport and forbidden to leave the country.
Meanwhile, El Periódico states that the funds were “not from laundering capitals, but from sale of one Ukrainian bank in their ownership”, the defense of some detainees reported.
Previously it was reported about the detention of Chernovetskyi’s son Stepan in Barcelona. Local media called him “the gang’s brain”, who is suspected of laundering 10 million euros.
However, immediately after Stepan Chernovetskyi was detained, the ex-mayor refuted this information, adding, that he is at his place in Barcelona and “currently responds to police questions on circumstances, associated with some man”.
