The Indian-Russian joint venture Brahmos Aerospace realizes the project of creation of the hypersonic missile, Managing Director of the Indian-Russian JV Sudhir Kumar Mishra, RNS reports.
“It will take 2-3 years to design it”, Mishra said, replying to the question on the time of creation of the hypersonic missile.
He noted that the India’s Defense & Research Development Organization (DRDO), Russia’s NPO Mashinostroyeniya (Reutov, Moscow region) as well as the Moscow Aviation Institute are participating in design works.
The ship-based and land-based hypersonic BrahMos missile, weighing 3 tons, builds up the speed of 3 ths km per hour. It was previously reported that the hypersonic Brahmos missile can build up the speed of 4-5 ths km per hour.
In addition, the Managing Director noted, JV designed the Brahmos missile of a new generation – Brahmos NG. Its mass will be 1,400 kg. It can be created in 2-3 years.
