Ukraine and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) are launching a new interaction strategy that provides for the implementation of long-term and financially large projects in both private and public sector.
Such agreements were reached during a meeting between Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman and EBRD Vice President Alain Pilloux, the government’s press service reported.
“Probably, we no longer have partner countries similar to Ukraine. We have approved a new strategy for Ukraine, and one of the key areas is the revitalization and expansion of our activities in the private and public sector”, Pilloux said.
According to him, the EBRD is very interested in alternative energy projects and the development of state banks. Therefore, the lender expects the government to initiate legislative initiatives regarding the law on alternative energy, on state banks, on concessions and on the activities of the business ombudsman. Groisman called the changes in legislation as the "workflows."
In addition, by the end of 2018, the EBRD plans to sign a number of practical agreements with Ukrzaliznytsia and the state enterprise Ukraerorukh.
The meeting also presented the new EBRD Regional Director Metteo Patrone, who will replace Francis Malige on this position.
It should be reminded that recently, the EBRD has identified operational and strategic priorities in Ukraine for the next five years.
