The database will be administered by the Interpol
The Ukrainian forum convened in London on April 29-30 dealt with recovery of state assets, the press-office of the Ukraine’s MRD reports.
Task force meetings held during the forum helped reach agreements between the countries. In particular, the Ukrainian authorities and representatives of the Interpol discussed various aspects and technical possibilities of creating the database for storing the information about both the state assets stolen and schemes for their illegal withdrawal overseas. Moreover, this information resource will contain data about the persons involved in withdrawing the assets abroad, to the offshore or other companies, financial institutions and consultancy companies assisting in elaboration and embedding of illegal schemes. In experts’ opinion, an access to this information will allow the law enforcement bodies from different countries to make the cooperation more efficient and raise timeliness when searching and recovering the Ukraine’s state assets that were stolen.
The Interpol will administer the database, yet relevant competent bodies of all countries that have joined their efforts to facilitate recovery of assets through the Interpol’s national central bureaus will provide and enter the data to it.
Besides, the global community recommends that Ukraine creates the Assets Recovery Office, ARO, like those in place in the EU countries.
