All Ukrainian citizens, aged 16, obtaining their passport for the first time, will obtain ID cards.
Today, on January 11, in Ukraine the passport of the citizen of Ukraine will be executed as a card (ID-card), RBC-Ukraine reports.
All citizens of Ukraine, aged 16, obtaining the passport for the first time, will obtain new passports in the form of ID-cards, the rest of Ukrainians –after the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of relevant amendments to the legislation. For those, who obtain the passport for the first time, it will be free of charge. In case of replacement of the passport (old with new, or in case of loss) it will be required to pay the cost of the blank and administrative fees.
According to the Migration Service, the passport in the form of plastic card is the independent document and not always requires reading of additional information from it, and those services, which would need this information, will be provided with corresponding devices. As the ID card uses the contactless technology for reading information, it is not the new and massively used in smartphones, tablets, and other modern devices.
SMS forecasts that the citizens will be fully provided with new passports within 4 years.
It should be reminded that since 2016 the State Migration Service starts issuing new electronic passports of citizens of Ukraine in the form of card with electronic carrier.
