In 2017, the Ministry of Finance plans to seriously deal with education.

The Ministry of Finance offers not only to change the approach to payment of scholarships, but also to cancel the free master’s program, as stated in the recommendations of the Department of the Ministry of Education and Science for allocation of costs and disbursement of loans from the general fund of draft budget for 2017, Ukrainian News reports.

“In order to change over to master’s degree program only on a contractual basis (financed through the funds of individuals and legal entities), the expenses on the general fund of the Ministry of Culture, amounting to UAH 1,785.5 ths, the Ministry of Education – UAH 159, 687.6 ths, the Ministry of Finance – UAH 1,699.5 ths, were reduced while calculating the maximum volumes of expenses for education of 2017” – according to it.

The Ministry of Finance also recommends reducing the expenses for scholarships in accordance with main directions of the budgetary policy for 2017 with the purpose of improving the targeting of financial aid to the students, considering their material status, while calculating the maximum volumes of expenses for education for 2017.

“The expenses are accounted for provision with the scholarship of only students, who are orphans, disabled persons of group I-III, children deprived of parental care, children from disadvantaged families, who obtain aid in accordance with the law On State Social Aid to Disadvantaged Families, postgraduate and doctoral students”, as noted in recommendations.
