NBU tries to obscure its bungling monetary policy, the politician considers.
The reasons for the steep fall of hryvnia, indicated by the National Bank, evidence about the attempts to “obscure the bungling monetary policy”. This opinion was expressed by Leader of “Ukrainian Choice” Victor Medvedchuk in his blog.
“On the eve of its 20th anniversary the hryvnia reached the next psychological threshold of 26 UAH/USD and continued its steep fall. Taking into account the economic situation in Donbass, the political and social instability in the country, the uncertainty about the allocation of the third IMF tranche, the outflow of investment capital, the analysts and experts make the most unnerving forecasts regarding the national currency rate”, he noted.
Meanwhile, Medvedchuk noted that the responsibility for devaluation of national currency rests with not only NBU, but also with government and parliament.
“Today, it is already evident: signing the so-called Free Trade Area Agreement with EU became the most serious strategic mistake of Kyiv for all the years of independence. The situation could be stabilized by the relaunch of economy through the change of foreign economic policy of the country and return to the Russian market as well as the cooperation with EEU countries… And if this situation does not change, the national economy will continue its steep fall, and the hryvnia will continue depreciating, setting new and new record lows,” Medvedchuk forecasts.
