The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) demands cancellation of the decision of alteration by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT) of the charter of Naftogaz of Ukraine NJSC and placing its “subsidiary” – Ukrtransgas PJSC (UTG) – under management of MEDT from NJSC, Interfax Ukraine reports.
“We need to cancel this decision and negotiate with the Ministry of Economy (MEDT) and Naftogaz representatives, other necessary partners, and take the decisions, which will be consistent with the agreement, which will be signed between the government of Ukraine and EBRD” – Managing Director for Eastern Europe and the Caucasus Francis Malige said to Interfax-Ukraine on Saturday.
According to him, EBRD is ready to participate in such negotiations.
“We are concerned, very concerned that the decisions, which will be taken not in accordance with normal rules of corporate guidance”, F. Malige added.
He noted that the part of agreements of Ukraine’s government with EBRD was the loan, disbursed to Naftogaz in the amount of $300 mln for purchasing the natural gas and Naftogaz reform, which implies the introduction of international control, implementation of anticorruption measures, introduction of independent supervisory board.
F. Malige emphasized that some of these measures were implemented.
