Late night, on September 22, the Dutch parliament passed the resolution, according to which the government should submit for consideration the decision on EU-Ukraine Association Agreement not later than November 1.
This decision was initiated by D66 party, which supported ratification of the agreement during the referendum campaign. In the meantime, the demand from the government was supported by the opponents of association with Ukraine, due to which it won majority of votes.
Now neither of parties supports the ratification of Agreement, even the advocates of Ukraine insist that the government officially informs Brussels about the current situation.
It should be reminded that President of the Dutch Senate Ankie Broekers-Knol claimed that in spite of different positions of parties in the parliament of Netherlands, the decision for supporting association of Ukraine with the European Union will be found.
According to Obozrevatel, Prime Minister Mark Rutte claimed that Netherlands may not ratify the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.
