Ukraine may create the Crimean Tatarian Autonomous Republic. 

The Verkhovna Rada approved the recommendations of parliamentary sessions, dedicated to “Strategy of Reintegration of the temporarily occupied territory of AR Crimea and the city of Sevastopol into Ukraine: problem issues, ways, methods and means”, Correspondent reports.

The relevant resolution (№4003-а) was endorsed by 233 people’s deputies at the session, held on September 22.

The document includes the recommendations of the President of Ukraine on preparing amendments to the Constitution and the Laws of Ukraine and submitting them for consideration of the parliament regarding depriving Sevastopol of the special status as wells recognition of the Crimean tatars, karaites and krymchaks as the indigenous peoples of Ukraine.

According to the results of parliamentary sessions, it is recommended considering the issues of changing the status of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea into the Crimean Tatar Autonomous Republic.

The participants of parliamentary session also recommended the President considering the possibility of creating advisory and consultative body under the President of Ukraine on deoccupation and reintegration of the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol into Ukraine.

The parliament also recommended passing the laws on state strategy on deoccupation and reintegration of the Crimea into Ukraine, on collaborationism and lustration in the Crimea, and declaring the law on creation of free trade economic area “Crimea” to be no longer in force.

It should be reminded that it was informed that President Petro Poroshenko initiated development of amendments to the Constitution on self-identification of the Crimean tatars.
