Disney considers the possibility of purchasing Twitter Inc., which owns the same-name microblog service. In order to appraise possible purchase, Disney engaged the financial advisor, Lenta.ru reports quoting Bloomberg.
In its turn, Twitter started the process of evaluation of terms of possible purchase, the agency reports. In the meantime, neither Disney nor Twitter gave any comments.
As reported, Disney is already somehow related with Twitter. Jack Dorsey, the creator of microblog service, the executive director of Twitter Inc., is currently the Disney’s board member.
Currently Disney owns media companies ABC and ESPN. Twitter with the market value of USD 16 billion in this case will be the Disney’s largest acquisition since the 19-billion merger with Capital Cities/ ABC Inc. in 1996.
According to sources, such companies, as 21st Century Fox., Comcast Corp., Time Warner Inc. and AT&T Inc. are reluctant to purchase Twitter. Having conducted the evaluation, Microsoft Corp. did not show any interest in purchasing the service either.
