Prime Minister Volodymyr Hroisman considers that the deputies’ salary increases were untimely, he said to “Freedom of Speech” on ICTV.
“The government does not set salaries for deputies. With the help of parliamentary resolution, the deputies set salaries to themselves”, he noted.
According to him, the increase of deputies’ salaries was a mistake.
“I consider that we had to have serious discussion and I am sure that now it is absolutely untimely to cardinally increase salaries for the people’s deputies of Ukraine”, Head of Government said.
“What did we have to do? We had to have discussion with government, inside deputies’ factions, what was not done. And then, it would be clear, if such decision can be supported”, he added.
Hroisman also emphasized that such decision should be approved simultaneously with introduction of amendments to the budget. According to him, the budget for 2017 does not include increase of deputies’ salaries.
“I know that the Chairman of the Parliament together with leaders of factions are currently thinking how to handle this”, he said.
As known, the Verkhovna Rada increased salaries of people’s deputies almost twice.
The relevant norm is contained in the approved draft resolution №5000-П on Results and Proposals to the Law of Ukraine on State Budget of Ukraine for 2017.
Thus, the salary of the people’s deputy will be 25 minimum wages and will equal to UAH 36,250.00.
