US President Barack Obama claimed that Washington will undertake measures against Russia due to “interference” in election process – RIA News reports.
“I think that we should definitely undertake measures, when the government of any other country tries to influence on the objectivity of our elections, and we will undertake measures”, Obama said in his interview to NPR.
According to him, the USA will respond “at that time and place, which they will choose”.
“Something from it may be made public, something – not. Mr. Putin is well aware of my feelings on this matter, because I directly talked to him”, Obama emphasized.
In October, the official representatives of US intelligence services claimed that Russian hackers were behind cyberattacks against election systems of the country. Later, CIA accused Moscow of the hack into servers of the Democratic Party, to help Donald Trump to become the President. In the meantime, FBI did not agree with such conclusions.
Later, the White House acknowledged that, on the Election Day, there were no hacker activities observed. The Congress demanded from intelligence services to reveal investigation results, however it was not done.
US President-Elect Donald Trump himself said that the statements about Russia’s interference in presidential elections for his support are ridiculous.
Commenting on Washington’s position, President Vladimir Putin claimed that the published documents from Clinton’s campaign do not contain anything in the interests of Russia, and the hysteria is generated to distract attention from the content of these papers. Press Secretary Dmitri Peskov said that accusations against Moscow are “unfounded”.
