Antimonopoly Committee (AMC) suspects 18 large grocery retailers in the conspiracy that led to an increase in food prices in 2010-2011 in Kyiv, tells in the article published in «Kommersant-Ukraine».
These chains include well-known name, such as Silpo and Fora ( members of Fozzy Group), ATB-Market, Auchan, Furshet, Metro C & C etc.
The Committee accuses retailers in setting the rules for suppliers that have led to an increase in food prices. According to the State Statistics Service, in 2010-2011 the CPI grew by only 13.5%, while Kyiv in retail chains prices for basic foods grew by 22-38%, for some products by 50-70%.
The agency believes that the rise was triggered by retailers’ demands from suppliers to pay for a variety of additional services (advertising, bonuses, etc.) constituting 5-10% of the delivered goods cost. In addition, companies demanded from suppliers to pay for goods with a delay of up to 120 days.
Officially Suppliers are denying such requirements from chains. «We've never encountered such actions by retailers described by the AMCU. Our company works with the top 10 large chains, and with each of them we have totally different terms», said the director for working with key clients at Carlsberg Ukraine Valerii Chyslov.
