The National Police served the administration of two power companies with the notice of charges with embezzlement of UAH 100 mln, the press office of the Economy Protection Department of the National Police reports.

Thus, law enforcement officers established that in 2015, the officials of Kharkovoblenergo JSC (65% of shares are state-owned) concluded the financial aid agreement with units of power distribution companies of the Zaporizhzhia and Cherkassy regions. It is noted that the company management does not have the right to conclude such agreements without prior approval by the supervisory board and members of the management board, Finance.ua reports.

“Due to the fact that the latter did not fulfill their contractual obligations, the officials of the joint stock company concluded the commission agreement with the public for demanding debt liabilities…Then, the public funds were withdrawn through affiliated companies. All the entities, including those, which demanded debt liabilities, are fictitious. The amount of embezzled funds is more than 100 mln hryvnias”, according to the message.

Thus, last year, the investigators informed the deputy chairman of the management board and the executive director of Kharkivoblenergo JSC about the suspicion under p.4 of art.190 (fraud) and p.5 of art.191 (embezzlement of property in especially large amounts through abuse of office) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The court remanded him in custody on bail, amounting to UAH 957.6 ths hryvnias, which the official stood. In addition, the police officers of the Economy Protection Department and the investigators of the Chief Investigation Department made 31 sanctioned search of companies and persons, involved in committing the criminal offence.
