The ambassadors of G7 countries expressed the support of the draft pension reform in Ukraine and encouraged the Verkhovna Rada to immediately approve the legislation at the next week plenary session, according to the G7 ambassadors’ statement, published on the site of the Embassy of Italy, EP reports.
“We, G7 ambassadors, would like to express our resolute support of the plan of pension reform, proposed by the Ukrainian government, and we encourage the Rada to immediately approve the respective legislation in the next week plenary session”, according to the statement.
Today, the pensioners make up more than one fourth of the population of Ukraine, the average amount of pensions is extremely low, while the pension expenditures in Ukraine – 11% GDP – are among the highest in Europe.
Such discrepancy evidences about the necessity to renew the appropriate social agreement between the state and its citizens as well as to quickly approve the pension reform, which raises justice, predictability and resilience of the system”, G7 countries’ ambassadors told.
