Project aims to reform the justice sector
11 Oct. 2013 the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine presented EU project «Supporting reforms in justice in Ukraine» on the basis of the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the European Union in December 2011, the Justice Ministry said in a statement.
The project aims to accelerate sustainable reforms in the justice sector in Ukraine. In addition, within its framework the issue of the apparent need for a single consolidated vision of reform in justice should be solved to be shared by all stakeholders.
The topic of justice reforms is a major one. The sphere of justice in Ukraine is seeing some improvements and we are ready to support this, said Michael Kohler, Director of Neighbourhood Policy Directorate General for Development and Cooperation of the European Commission.
Under the project European experts will carry out research in the fields of reforming national judicial system, prison service, legal aid etc.
The analysis and research of Western experts will contribute to implementation of legal reforms in Ukraine.
