The state banks Privatbank and Oshchadbank are preparing the launch of Apple Pay technology in Ukraine, Finclub reports quoting the source.
“Among Ukrainian banks, Privatbank will be the first to launch this payment service”, the interlocutor of the edition told.
Privatbank is expected to announce about strategic partnership on May 17. Both state banks are still refraining from any comments.
According to the source, technologically, everything is already prepared for the launch of this payment service. Only the date of the product launch remains in question.
Apple Pay service was presented in 2014 in the U.S.
For the last four years, Apple connected a little over a dozen of countries, but there was no active development of the service observed: the company launches several new countries a year. For example, from the beginning of 2018, it has connected only Brazil.
