From 1 July the leave for pregnancy and childbirth will be counted as part of pensionable service
This was announced by Director of Retirement and Social Protection of Disabled Mykola Shambir, with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Social Policy.
According to the official, the relevant provision is set by Law of Ukraine of 14.05.2013 № 231-VII «On Amendments to Certain Laws on appointment and indexation of pensions.» The law takes effect on the first day of the month following the month of its publication.
«Henceforth shall be subject to obligatory state pension insurance women who are on leave due to pregnancy and childbirth and receive financial assistance. This period will be included to the pensionable service when appointing their pensions», M. Shambir said.
«For this rule to take effect, the Parliament amended the legislation on collecting the single social contribution (Single Contribution). According to amendments, the employer shall pay insurance premiums for the duration of maternity leave based on the gross amount of the assistance due to pregnancy and childbirth: Single Contribution in this case will be 33.2% of that amount. At the same time 2% of the amount of assistance for pregnancy and childbirth will be withheld from women employees», explained the expert.
