Government postpones payment of real estate tax on individuals until next year

Appropriate changes were made to Article 265 «Tax on immovable property, other than land» of the Tax Code of Ukraine.

Therefore, tax invoices of the Ministry of Revenues Ukraine that citizens received this year, should only be used to verify the number of the immovable properties and their area. There is no need to pay for the invoices in 2013. The citizens who have paid taxes may get a refund. For this purpose they must apply to the tax authorities (territorial bodies of Ministry of Revenues). But it is also possible, for example, to credit funds paid this year on account of tax in 2014.

Adopted changes provide for revision of the sizes of real estate subject to exemption next year.

So the tax will not apply to apartments with total area under 120 sq. m and houses of 250 sq. m, or apartments and houses together - 370 sq. m.

Experts of Holosiivskii district STI remind that previously the tax was accrued on each property separately and exemption applied only to one of the objects.

Whereas under the new order, the area will be totaled with tax rates differentiated according to the following criteria:

not exceeding 1% of the minimum wage - for owners of apartments with residential area under 240 square meters and owners of houses with residential area under 500 square meters;

1% of the minimum wage for various residential properties with total area not exceeding 740 sq. m;

2.7% of the minimum wage will be charged in case of exceeding these limitations;

Adopted amendments will allow to reduce tax burden on individuals and not to pay tax on residential properties within established limits regardless of the number of owned houses or apartments.
