Verizon launched the world’s first commercial network 5G, which is available for Houston, Indianapolis, Log Angeles and Sacramento, The Verge reports.
It is noted that the key change will be that the routers will distribute WiFi not from the network cable, but form the nearest cellular base station.
The speed, ensured by a new network, is comparable with wired Internet – 300 Mbit/sec. Meanwhile, the maximum speed is 1 Gbit/second.
A new mobile operator’s network is based on the own 5G TF standard. It will be used until a generally accepted standard 5G NR is approved.
Following U.S., South Korea will launch 5 G – there, three companies are preparing to present a new modems.
It should be reminded that in late September 2017, a Swedish-Finnish telecommunication holding Telia Company jointly with Ericsson and Intel tested the first Europe’s public network 5G.
In August 2018, one of the largest mobile operators of Ukraine – lifecell – deployed a virtualized network in partnership with the international system integrator Odine Solutions and Affirmed Networks.
